Briefcase- Green Living development- Improved banner design and recipe card

Image
My new banner design is more simplistic and tells you everything you need to know. Its more clear and precise than the older one. I think I could use the older one as the front cover of my pamphlet, this is because you want the pamphlet to be more detailed and explain more about the cause. The pamphlet in for the older generation so when I make it, they would appreciate the details more. The banner that is shown here is to quickly get the name out of there and to be put up in allotments and events.  I changed this card by removing the facts from the vegetables. Making the title smaller. Making it clear that you can put down the ingredients and the method is separate places.

Briefcase- Green living development- Banner and Recipe Card

Image
Heres my finished banner that I created. I think this is successful as it uses my colour palette and the images stand out on the page. It looks professional and detailed however, I think if I was to edit this more, I'd use less words. Maybe this could be a good design for my pamphlet I want to send out.  Here's my title for my typography for the recipe card. This will be at the top just to emphasise that the recipes are healthy and sustainable.  Recipe Card Design  Heres a design I made for the recipe card for the older generation to write on and pass on to families that need support. I wanted to keep to the theme while adding colour too, so I included some of my illustrations with facts on about the different ingredients you might find in the recipe. I included lines where the person can write on the recipe. However, I think to improve this design I could make a space for the ingredients and then a space for the method. I could also create a second page just incas...

Briefcase- Green Living- More Development

Image
To make the recipe card interesting I thought adding fun facts about the fruit and vegetables that are included could be eye-catching and useful to the consumer. These illustrations I created are bright and colourful and are very successful. The only problem is for some of them the text is hard to read such as the broccoli and the tomato, to improve these I will make the opacity of the text higher so it is more clear for the consumer to read.  Improved Icon  I made this tick darker and include stems in the leaves to make it suit my other vegetable icons for my leaflet and pop up poster.

Briefcase development- Green Living

Icons for leaflets Here are some icons I have designed for my leaflet. I wanted to make sure they all were in the same colour palette so that it is easy to distinguish that they are there to help. The first icon is to represent food boxes however, I think the carrot is too intricate for the design and although they are simplistic it looks a bit off. the second icon at the top is representing a tick. It's a very interesting design, however, I think it looks too similar to the Vegan logo that is put on food packaging. The third is to represent care and support, this design is very successful as its very simple yet it's also clever in how it shows help. The fourth design is to represent the allotments and the process that the allotment holders go through to help the families.    I improved the two top ideas to look more attractive and unique to my brand. They turned out successful however I think that the leaf on the box can be a little bit distracting to what Green Living is. Th...

Briefcase- More development with animations and future ideas

Image
I thought that for the final 1 minute animation it would look good if I drew the leaves growing from the word living. It could be used as an end slide so that people will remember the name. I think this animation is very and I will continue to develop it and use it in my final piece.  Here's a quick animation I did of an old man smiling. I thought this could be good to include in my finished 1 minute presentation. However, I think I would prefer if he looked more illustrated. I haven't decided whether I want to keep this part of my storyboard in yet.  Ideas for Banner, Pamphlet and Stickers

Briefcase- Infographics

Image
For this first infographic I wanted to represent that 50% of fresh food is wasted. I wanted the infographic to be simple and not distracting from the figure. This turned out effectively and I think its eye catching.    For this infographic I wanted to show food waste effectively. However, this didn't turn out very successful. I think the different colours and shapes drawn are very distracting and just makes the figures look wordy and hard to read. So, I will develop this idea further.  This infographic is easy to understand, bright and colourful. This is the best one I have drawn so far. I think the white font on top of the bright red is very eye catching for the reader and would be easy for the older generation to read.  This is an improved version of the Food Waste infographic. I decided that the multiple pieces of fruit are too distracting and I wanted the data to be clear for everyone to see. Similar to my previous infographic, the white font on top of the bright...

Briefcase- Storyboard and Animation Experiments

Image
Heres a quick mock up of the storyboard I created. Throughout the animations I will be inserting text explaining what my business is about and who I am helping.  The animation will show the process of what the community will produce in their allotments and hand out to disadvantaged people. I will show that they add in a recipe with the ingredients so that the families understand what they can use it for.  Heres some quick animations I made to show what the 1 minute video will start off like.

Briefcase- Development of ideas and experimentation

Quick Thumbnail Designs   Here are a few developed ideas for my briefcase project. Even though I still haven't com up with a name for my brand yet i decided to develop logo ideas for the project. I wanted all of them to replicate the idea of help and kindness while keeping the idea of it being green and organic there too. The best one I drew is definitely the shaking hands. I think it gets straight to the point, the thumbs up are nicely illustrated but I think it looks it a drawing for a children's book instead of a business.  Here are some more developed name ideas and different types of typography to use with each brand name. The most successful ideas are; "Grow To Give", "Green Living" and "Rooted". "Grow To Give" tells the audience exactly what this company is about, I also like the font I used and how I've positioned the words and the colour of the typography. "Green Living" is also a strong contender this is because th...

Penguin Book- Talking turkeys - typography

Image
For the back cover I started to try and the blurb and quote how I wrote the title, however, I think it was unsuccessful. I think the quote from the book looks fitting in that style but taking in account the description of the book, it looks messy and not very professional. When I develop this typography idea I will keep the quote from the book the same but make sure the description looks more professional.  Using this font, you can already tell how much of a negative impact the previous typography had on the back. Although, this version looks so much better I still think this font is too playful.  I prefer this font to the previous however it still feels like it doesn't fit to the page. It looks too formal for a children's book. I think the difficulty of using type on the back is that the white illustrations I have drew distract the viewers eyes. To prevent this from happening I decided to turn down the white illustrations opacity even further.  I think that this f...

Briefcase- Thumbnails and Branding ideas

New Proposition   I have been researching different food services such as "Gousto" or Hello Fresh" and most of them are incredibly expensive and the people that need the fresh food boxes the most can't easily obtain them. So, I decided to expand and develop my idea to be a way for the older generation who are allotment or greenhouse holders to subscribe and donate their vegetables and produce to this charity so that then we can send fresh food delivery boxes with recipes written by the older generation to the people in the community who need it the most. The way this charity will find the disadvantaged people is by sending out letters to be handed out at food banks, asking whether their family needs an extra help and they can apply.  The main names I prefer are; Helping hands, Roots, Green Thumb and Home Grown. The problem with most of these are that they are cliches. I thin k each of these names have been used and done before. The issue with "Roots" is tha...

One day project- Objects that got me through lockdown

Image
Originally, I started my illustrations in watercolour. I used quick brush strokes and realistic colours on the painting and added splashes of colours. I ended up not liking how this experiment turned out and wanted to do something completely different.   I decided to completely change my original idea and produce a digital piece of art instead. I wanted to show my objects in a first person view, as if I'm looking at them. My chosen objects were talking to my mum on Facetime, looking after plants a lovely cup of tea and thinking to myself what my dad would have done in lockdown and how he would tell me to keep being positive. I wanted a bright, warm illustration to represent how I felt towards my objects and I stuck with only a small colour palette to connect each object together.

Penguin Book- Chosen Talking Turkeys design with template

Image
Before changing anything from my previous designs I decided to add the template on top of the design for the book cover. I realised the dark blue I used made the Puffin Poetry logo hard to see. I also noticed that the text I was using didn't fit in with the theme of the sketchy background. As well as this, the drawings over the top of the rainbow looked too refined and I felt it needed to look more drawn on. So when I next developed it I developed all of these ideas.  In the illustration below, there are developed illustrations I drew to overlay on the cover as some improvement. I redrew the previous illustrations with a pencil brush on procreate. I also added 'doodles' in the gaps of the illustrations dedicated to the poems, these 'doodles' are inspired by the type of drawing a child would do in a sketchbook. I turned this image into a repeat pattern which I can add in to the book cover easily.  In the development shown below, I made the dark blue slightly lighter...
