Penguin Book- Chosen Talking Turkeys design with template
Before changing anything from my previous designs I decided to add the template on top of the design for the book cover. I realised the dark blue I used made the Puffin Poetry logo hard to see. I also noticed that the text I was using didn't fit in with the theme of the sketchy background. As well as this, the drawings over the top of the rainbow looked too refined and I felt it needed to look more drawn on. So when I next developed it I developed all of these ideas.
In the illustration below, there are developed illustrations I drew to overlay on the cover as some improvement. I redrew the previous illustrations with a pencil brush on procreate. I also added 'doodles' in the gaps of the illustrations dedicated to the poems, these 'doodles' are inspired by the type of drawing a child would do in a sketchbook. I turned this image into a repeat pattern which I can add in to the book cover easily.
In the development shown below, I made the dark blue slightly lighter, however, I don't think it was enough. Also, it is clear I added more illustrations on top of the bright colours and I changed the typography for both the title and Zephaniah's name.

The main change I made after the previous development, was the background. I decided it would be best if I changed it to a turquoise fitting in with my Rastafarian colour palette theme.
