Penguin Book- Typography
Typography experimentation
This first idea is my own handwriting but with an ink pen brush on procreate. I think this typography is fun and energetic for this style of book. I like when typography shapes itself around the illustration on the book. This is because I think it has a playful impact on the cover.
2.
This typography is very similar to the previous one. It is my handwriting and it is shaped around the turkeys head. It is simple but effective and the pencil brush I used is a nice because it looks like a children's written it. It's an effective font for the target market. Going forward I would need to refine it more.
Here's a couple different fonts I could use for Zephaniah's name. Both fit the theme, however the second is more similar to the style of typography my "Talking Turkeys" are in. I like how one word is in black and the other is in white. This is because I think it makes them link to the other typography and is something a bit different for this cover.
Heres another developed idea and the typography I might use. I love the colours used in this idea and the text is playful, however, I think it might be a bit messy for what I want to do and it doesn't fit in with the illustration.
I originally was going to have small illustrations all over the colourful sections of this idea but it looked too messy when I experimented with it.
What I like about this typography is the way I have written "Benjamin Zephaniah". But I don't like using the same text for the title of the book as the author. I will develop this idea further to see where I want to go with this typography.
I think that this typography looks a lot better with Zephaniah's name. I think the bold look of the title really stands out against the colourful background. I think it stands out a lot more than the other typography experiment I did for this developed idea.
