One Day Project- Listening to tracks

For the first 3 black and white experiments I started off drawing with a black brush pen so that I could easily manipulate the thickness of the pen strokes. In this Oasis response I think the most successful part of the page it the top corner. This is due to the fact you can almost see the change in notes and tones. The most messy and less artistic section would definitely be the bottom right corner this is because I think I got too carried away with the music and it was a very climatic part of the song. I think this appears too much like a scribble.

Attempting to learn from my mistakes in the last piece, I thought starting off with a thinner pen would make it easier to add more illustration. However, I think this experiment is a lot less successful than the first. It looks messy and childlike.

This one is a good inbetween of the other two experiments. Its messy but it still shows I was listening to music while creating this. I think the mark making in the top left corner could have been successful if I did a little less dotting.

Using the colour definitely helped show the type of song I was listening to. I think it is the most clear in the first experiment of what genre of music I was listening to. The song was "Here Comes The Sun" by The Beatles. This is a happy and calm song and I think that it is clear in painting.

I think this page is very interesting. It definitely shows how the progression of a song can change drastically. At the start of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" the song is very quite, sad but charming and then towards the end (shown on the second page) the song turns incredibly powerful and loud. It is a very moving song- which I believe is very clear from comparing the first half of my experiment with the second.

Again, in this experiment it is very clear that the progression of the song can change drastically. Similar to the last one "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis Presley- Las Vegas edition, creates momentum near to the end and as the song goes on Presley's enjoyment and his performance increases and when painting I couldn't help but enjoy myself and do what I wanted.

When expanding on my experiments, I didn't want the finish piece to be a normal shape, I wanted it to represent that what I was creating was because of a song. So, I listened to a song again and returned back to my pen and ink experiments. I wanted the illustration to look explosive while still maintain a form. I wanted the final piece to be drawn of a record. I first I tried to emulate shapes to associate my song with the art; for example in this top image I drew a lightning bolt. However, I didn't like how this turned out because I thought it wasn't authentic enough.

So, for my finished record I redid the pen experiment while listening to music and the incorporated colours with I thought would represent the song and that went together nicely. Overall, I came up with this. Without even realising, I had made faces in my artwork so, with the colour I tried to make them more noticeable. However, I don't think this was very effective because I rushed towards the end to try and finish it on time.
